Can I make it through?

Who knew that simple small dumbbells at home could make your ass hurt more than doing machines at the gym? I'm going on vacation with my family soon and I don't know how I'm going to keep up with the nieces and nephews if it hurts just to sit on the toilet. This blog is about a skinny guy's journey to beef up and look...normal.

A little background.
My name is Mark and I am a shrimp(aholic). Not as much as I used to be, but to give you an idea, I'm 30, 5'9" and I weigh about 145. All through high school I was 120 and in college I was pretty much 130. Senior year I regularly had a little too much cheesecake as graduation approached, but other than that I've been in the 140s for the past 8 years. I've always been skinny; I still am. I even worked out diligently for a couple of years, but I couldn't get bigger. Never! Now, one could argue that there are a lot of psychological and sociological implications surrounding the idea that I want to get bigger and more muscular, but that can wait. For right now, let's focus on the fact I couldn't get what it seemed all the other guys had: muscle.

I've had this exercise/body building book on my shelf for quite a while, knowing that it has applicable and credible information I want, but it just wasn't the right time. Well, this week I cracked it open and I began my journey. I am educated now about exercises for goals, proper form, nutrition, sleep, water, etc., etc. Now I just have to do it. (We'll see if those Tony Robbins tapes paid off.)

Without going into much detail, I did legs and shoulders yesterday and my ass hasn't hurt this much since...well, it hurts. And I was only squatting with 5 lb weights! I told you I was a shrimp. (Hmm... maybe this blog is really about getting stronger.) I know the exercises were effective, so now it's up to me. Today I have abs and aerobic. Funny how I am procrastinating by creating a blog. Ciao.
